Hey Storytellers! We are so excited to have you perform for The Artichoke! Here is all of the info/ guidelines that you’ll need to prepare for your trip to Beacon and to tell your story:

LODGING

Do you need a place to stay? Let us know and we’ll see if we can find a place for you to crash or can recommend some local AirBnBs.

DINNER

We prepare a dinner that we serve at Drew’s house on 35 Vine Street at 6:30 before the show. Please let us know if you and your comp would like to join us and if you have any dietary restrictions. Also, we typically have an after-party and would love to have you and your guest join us as well.

COMPS

We provide each storyteller with one comp. Please provide the name of your comp and let us know if you won’t be bringing anyone so that we can sell that ticket. Our show typically sells out, so please buy any additional tickets you need in advance.

PROMOTION
The Artichoke additionally compensates storytellers $2.50 for each ticket sale they generate. (Ticketbuyers choose the performer they’ve come to see from a dropdown.) And as we have in-house and video tickets, please invite your fans from all over to tune in to the show.

STORYTELLING GUIDELINES

1. Bring Your Very Best.

Please do not workshop or hone new stories at our show. We have built up a loyal, paying fanbase and the top-notch story delivered by the storyteller at the show before yours delivered the goods so that we can pay you. And your very best effort—your story that is now tight and that crushes—is what will pay the storyteller who comes after you. Thank you for helping to keep that cycle going.

2. Funny Is Good!

You can drive our audience through a rougher neighborhood but please be sure to deliver some laughs and try to end on a high note.

3. Respect Your Time Limit.

Ten minutes is perfect. With audience reaction, please enjoy a two-minute grace period but otherwise help us to get everyone out of the Howland on time.

4. What’s It About?

Please give us a one-line description of your story (or any previous clips of you doing it) as this will help us organize the lineup. Also, do you have any relevant videos or pics that we can include on The Artichoke site that people can find after?
